Early 2011

Co-Founders (Ruwan and Thushara) meet for the first time on the aisles of the Faculty of Information Technology, at University of Moratuwa (UOM).

Mid 2011

Ruwan and Thushara participate at the MIT-AITI incubation program at UOM where a healthy curiosity on entrepreneurship, bootstrapping and continuous product improvement is planted.

2011- Early 2013

The formative years that would lead to many trials and tribulations, mostly unpaid projects, moderate success, stumbling blocks, and a driving vision to create something that is unique takes shape.

Mid 2013

Victory at MoraHack, Code Ultimatum Hackathon – organized by Dialog Ideamart in conjunction with University of Moratuwa.

Late 2013

Extrogene Software is (unofficially) formed by Ruwan and Thushara.

Early 2014

An idea for an Offer-centric website takes shape in the minds of the Co-Founders that leads to development and testing of OfferHut.lk

Mid 2014

Co-Founders enlist themselves and compete tirelessly against other teams of developers and their respective entries at "Venture Engine Competition," organized by Blue Ocean Ventures (BOV) and Lankan Angel Network (LAN)- and place overall Second Runner Up.

Late 2014

Funding: Investors take notice of Extrogene's idea for OfferHut and offer Seed investment along with guidance and incubation (LAN).

Late 2014

Extrogene Software (Pvt) Ltd is officially registered in Sri Lanka as a Limited Liability Company.

Early 2015

OfferHut goes live in Colombo and Kandy and a few other townships in and around Colombo and Kandy.

Early 2015

An idea for a suite of applications complementing the OfferHut ecosystem takes shape with the release of two other accompanying services: AroundU and Edu.lk

Mid 2015 into 2016

Extrogene team expansion: further development of OfferHut, AroundU and Edu.lk brings about new hires in Software Engineers, a UX Developer, a Creative Designer, a Customer Service Executive and Marketing Executives.

2016

OfferHut and AroundU- which can also be found on the Dialog USSD app platform- Ideamart, soars in subscription rates as the two services grow into other parts of Sri Lanka.

Mid 2016

Extrogene starts working with Mindshare, a GroupM company, to develop products and services for Unilever Sri Lanka.

Early 2017

AroundU gets relaunched on the Dialog Ideamart platform with a renewed marketing plan and improved VAS, and immediately shows growth potential.

Rest of 2017

Introduction and development of two new products at Extrogene- EVA in motion; a virtual assistant, and Coffer- a platform for streamlined credit card promotions and offers. Both applications are complementary to the OfferHut ecosystem.

Early 2018

The suite of complementary services representing the OfferHut ecosystem goes through final development and testing.

Late 2018

Coffer was launched across IOS and Android platforms. All your banks. All your card offers and promotions. All in one app.

Late 2019

Coffer was recognized by e-Swabhimani 2019 and awarded. It is identified that Coffer is capable of resolving the hassle of keeping up with all card offers scattered through number of different offer platforms.

2019 and Beyond

The future looks poised for growth at Extrogene with OfferHut.lk along with its suite of other complementary products shaping up to provide value added services to users where those services would solve daily problems and disrupt other existing trends.
